More than 5,000 runaway children will die on the streets of America this year. Every day over 2,000 children are reported missing. In response to these alarming numbers, the Morgan Nick Foundation needs your help to teach our youth about safety and educate them about the dangers of running away from home.
This May we will host our 9th annual L.O.S.T. (Lost On the Streets Today) weekend for approximately 200 Alma Middle School students. A "Box City" is established in the Wal-mart parking lot where students will spend the night "on the street in a box." This event gives students a hands-on look at how dangerous running away is in a safe and controlled environment. During the evening, we will provide activities such as dumpster-diving for food, a 2,400 square foot obstacle course, games, and a cookout provided by the Alma Focus Group.
The special guest for this year will be Sheltered Reality—a a group of kids from all over the United States that use music to teach other kids not to live a “sheltered reality.”
